Evaluating our story board

  • My group and I have just finished our story board and it took us about 2 weeks to complete. It was really important to us that we did our story board because we needed to visualise our music video to give us information on the props and costume etc and it really helped us to develop the planning that we needed to do for the video.
  • The process of creating a story board is that you get given clean sheets with four shot boxes and space on the right to write information about the shot and what is happening in it, like the timing , action, lighting and sound. You fill in all this information and draw the action that is happening including the outfit that the person or thing is wearing, in the left hand box to inform you and create an image for you to work around. It creates a visualisation of the shot and creates ideas for you.
  • The story board constructs an understanding of the performance that we are trying to get across to people. It shows people the sort of theme, and idea that we are going for. This is good because it also gives us a clearer picture of our idea and it lets us visualise our music video.
  • We then filmed our story board to edit and put together to create an anamatic for us which creates a much clearer picture of the music video, highlighting areas for us to work on. We did this in the studio at school and it worked really well and all our shots were in focus and clear.
In total everything is going really well so far (touch wood.) I would say that we could have improved on our drawings in our story board a bit more and we could have mad a bit more effort on them and spent more time doing them but we wanted to make sure that we didn’t get behind as we had the longest story board in the class and we didn’t want to fall back behind everyone!

  1. This is highly proficient posting of the feedback of your storyboard. You have blogged this in a very presentable way and you have also managed to fully evaluate the function of the storyboard and shown the need to plan the process of shooting the MV and visualised what the final product will look like. You do need to blog your animatic & props list. In addition the presentation of your set design designs this week was very good and focused ( in particular your design of costume and make up) Please note any decisions that were made and how this might affect the look of the music video. Please ensure all blogging is up to date as soon as possible.
