Evaluation of Anamatic

A very good thing about our animation is, that it is very clear which gives us a good idea of what we need to do and we know what we need to work on.

This arrow pointing towards the door, tells the person who is acting in this specific shot that they need to walk to that door and exit through the same door. It is stuff like this which makes the animation a lot clearer and it gives us a very clear idea of the music video

But to make it slightly more clear we need to add some insert shots and loose some shots because we have taken out a few of the scenes to cut the music video down and to make it less scenes to shoot in one day. We will also probably change some of the order of which the scenes come in so that they are in a linear storyline rather than a random order.
We do not have any star image shown in our animatic because it is not detailed enough and it doesn't have any colour-which is an area we could have worked on to improve our animatic.

As a group we have learnt that editing is a major  part of our production of our product and it is also very important and time consuming.

Schedule for shoot-FRIDAY 15TH NOVEMBER 2013

Location

  • We are shooting the band scene in Sophia’s empty barn. We have permission to do this from Sophia’s parents and our teachers.
  • We are going to need to go and check it out and do a recky to see what sort of lighting that we are going to need, and we need to do a risk assesment. Sophia’s house is only 15 minutes from school so we can go there and do this anytime which is handy!
  • This is the only ‘location’ out of the studio that we are going to use.

Props & Costumes

We are buying al of this online and getting it delivered in time for the shoot.
We are also going to need a makeup artist to make the main character look younger and older and the cost is not included in this because we do not know how much it is going to cost yet.
The extras in our music video are going to be wearing their normal school clothes and we are going to ask the main boy to bring in one of his suits.
Overall this is all doable :)

Meeting with our set designer

Last week my group and I had a meeting with Scott, our set designer.
Our shoot day has been confirmed as: Friday 15/11/13.
The feed back on our sets and scenes are:

  • It can’t be non-linear it has to have a storyline or it won’t make sense.
  • They like the idea of using Sophia’s barn as the empty space that the band are going to play in but they Would need to have recky trip, to checkout lighting and to find out what they are going to need.
  • We are going to use the studio for the classroom scene instead of an actual classroom.
  • Graduation: Rather than having it on the stage with her walking on and collecting her diploma we have changed it her having her photo taken in front of a blue screen with her diploma in her hand.
  • Dinner scene:We need to buy some champagne for the table to dress it up a bit. They think that we should have the dinner and proposal/marriage at the same time and they should both look very smart
  • We are going to get rid of the library, marriage and hospital because we don’t need them and they are too many sets in build in a short amount of time.

Overall our meeting was productive and we are beginning to get excited about our shoot and building the set all together.

Evaluating our story board

  • My group and I have just finished our story board and it took us about 2 weeks to complete. It was really important to us that we did our story board because we needed to visualise our music video to give us information on the props and costume etc and it really helped us to develop the planning that we needed to do for the video.
  • The process of creating a story board is that you get given clean sheets with four shot boxes and space on the right to write information about the shot and what is happening in it, like the timing , action, lighting and sound. You fill in all this information and draw the action that is happening including the outfit that the person or thing is wearing, in the left hand box to inform you and create an image for you to work around. It creates a visualisation of the shot and creates ideas for you.
  • The story board constructs an understanding of the performance that we are trying to get across to people. It shows people the sort of theme, and idea that we are going for. This is good because it also gives us a clearer picture of our idea and it lets us visualise our music video.
  • We then filmed our story board to edit and put together to create an anamatic for us which creates a much clearer picture of the music video, highlighting areas for us to work on. We did this in the studio at school and it worked really well and all our shots were in focus and clear.
In total everything is going really well so far (touch wood.) I would say that we could have improved on our drawings in our story board a bit more and we could have mad a bit more effort on them and spent more time doing them but we wanted to make sure that we didn’t get behind as we had the longest story board in the class and we didn’t want to fall back behind everyone!
